The Heidi Madelaine Ainsworth Memorial Scholarship was established by the Wine Country
Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association to honor Heidi Madelaine Roos Ainsworth, an
ABWA member who passed away suddenly of cancer on January 19, 2006, at the age of 42. The chapter created
the annual scholarship to encourage and enable highly motivated women to pursue the culinary and/or
viticulture educational opportunities available to them at Santa Rosa Junior College.
Heidi, who worked in the culinary and hospitality field for over 15 years, attended
the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, New York and became a Cordon Bleu chef. Education was very important
to Heidi and she was continually learning and growing, both personally and professionally. Food, wine,
hospitality and mentoring others were Heidi’s greatest life passions.
An active member of ABWA’s Wine Country Chapter for three years, Heidi served
on several committees, including the Hospitality Committee. She was also advisor to the 2004/2005
chapter president and the primary organizer of the 2005/2006 Officer Installation & Scholarship
Awards ceremony held at Simi Winery, where she worked up until the time of her death.
The Heidi Madelaine Ainsworth Memorial Scholarship is generously endowed by Theresa
King & Bob Cooey.
